Community guidelines
A place to speak honestly, listen kindly and practice a useful next step.
Listen first and let people choose
You can ask for listening, encouragement or help practicing a skill. You can also just read. Respect the kind of support someone asks for, and ask permission before offering suggestions. Nobody needs to prove how difficult their day has been.
Be kind without promising certainty. Share your own experience as an experience, not a diagnosis or proof of what will happen to someone else. Do not shame someone for wanting reassurance; gently return to how the worry is affecting them and what support might help.
Keep medical decisions with professionals
Do not diagnose symptoms, interpret tests, promise that someone is healthy, prescribe treatment or tell someone to stop medication or ignore medical advice. Avoid graphic descriptions and repeated demands for others to rule out a feared illness. Ask a moderator for help when a conversation becomes a checking or reassurance loop.
Steady cannot assess immediate danger. For a medical emergency, contact your local emergency number; in the US, call 911. In the US, call or text 988 for suicide or mental-health crisis support. Do not wait for a post or email reply when urgent help is needed.
Protect privacy and respect boundaries
Do not take screenshots, copy posts outside Steady or record sharing circles. Do not reveal another member’s identity, contact details or participation without permission. Use only your own story, and avoid uploading medical documents or information that identifies other people.
Respect a request to stop interacting. Do not harass, threaten, discriminate, pressure someone into private contact, solicit money or sell services. No spam, impersonation or undisclosed promotion. Therapist introductions belong in the designated expert workflow.
Reports and moderation
Use the report control when a post or reply raises a concern. Blocking is also available for member interactions. For concerns outside a post, contact support. Do not repost harmful content to draw attention to it.
Moderators may guide a conversation, remove content, apply a temporary restriction or escalate a case to a lead. Report receipts mean the concern was recorded, not that a person has already reviewed it. Serious safety concerns require emergency services rather than waiting for moderation.
If you believe a moderation decision was mistaken, contact support with the relevant reference and a brief explanation. Do not include other members’ private information unnecessarily.
An honest start to the community
Any fictional demonstration conversation must be clearly labeled as an example. Examples are not testimonials or real member activity. Staff welcome posts must be posted as staff. Do not create fake accounts, reactions or success stories to make the community appear busier.
These guidelines apply to posts, replies, live participation and other membership interactions. We will explain material changes before they take effect.
